Yes, but only products with the correct IP rating are suitable for outdoor environments. Always check whether the product has an IP44, IP65 or higher rating before installing it outside.
Do I need a hub to use Calex Smart Home products?
No, most Calex Smart Home products work directly via WiFi. Simply connect them to your 2.4 GHz network and control everything through the Calex Smart App. No additional hub or bridge is required.
Please note: Calex Smart Outdoor products do require a compatible Smart Outdoor Hub. This hub ensures a stable connection and reliable performance in outdoor environments.
Can I create routines or automation scenes?
Absolutely. In the Calex Smart App you can create fully customised scenes, schedules and automations tailored to your daily routine. This allows your lighting and smart devices to respond automatically based on time, conditions or your behaviour.
For example, you can set your lights to turn on automatically at sunset and switch off at sunrise. You can create a “Good Morning” routine where bedroom lights gradually brighten, a Smart Plug switches on your coffee machine and your Table Lights activate at a low brightness level. In the evening, a “Cosy Night” scene can dim your living room lights to warm white tones or soft colours with one tap.
You can also create away-from-home automations. For instance, lights can turn on and off at set times to simulate presence while you are on holiday. Combined with motion sensors, lights can automatically switch on when movement is detected and turn off again after a selected time.
Scenes can control multiple products at once. This means you can adjust Ceiling Lights and LED strips simultaneously to create the perfect atmosphere for dinner, movie night or working from home.
Do Calex Smart Security products send motion detection alerts?
Yes. When motion is detected by a Calex Smart Security camera or sensor, you receive an instant push notification via the app. This allows you to immediately check the live feed or review recordings.
Do Calex Smart Security products require a cloud storage subscription?
No, a cloud storage subscription is not always required for Calex Smart Security products. Many cameras support local storage via a microSD card, allowing you to store recordings without monthly fees.
However, cloud storage is available as an optional subscription for users who want additional benefits such as secure online backup, extended video history and access to recordings even if the device is damaged or stolen. Subscription options and features may vary per product, so always check the product specifications for full details.

How does the Calex Smart Tag work?
The Calex Smart Tag works exclusively with Apple devices and connects to the Apple Find My network via Bluetooth. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad and other Apple devices that support the Find My app. The Smart Tag does not work with Android devices.
Once paired with your Apple device, you can track your item directly in the Find My app. If your item is nearby, you can activate the built in speaker to play a sound and quickly locate it. If it is further away, the Apple Find My network securely and anonymously helps you view its location on the map.
Does the Smart Tag require a subscription?
No. There are no monthly fees or subscriptions required. The Smart Tag works directly with the Apple Find My app at no additional cost.
