Calex supports Friends 4 Africa: building a promising future together
Since the beginning of this year, Calex has been an official donor to Friends 4 Africa, a foundation that is committed to underprivileged children and communities in South Africa. Their mission to support vulnerable children in Soweto with education, shelter and guidance, fits in seamlessly with our values and social commitment.
The impact of Friends 4 Africa
The Friends 4 Africa Foundation was founded from the founders' deep commitment to the dire situation in the slums of Johannesburg. In these neighborhoods, many children have lost their parents to AIDS and are growing up without a stable foundation. The foundation works closely with local South African organizations to provide them with education, food, psychological support and shelter.
Strong education and resilience
Education is at the heart of the mission of Friends 4 Africa. Inspired by Nelson Mandela's words: ‘Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world’, the foundation invests in the development of children, so that they can read, write, calculate and use computers. In addition, the PowerGirls programme offers young girls aged 9 to 16 the tools to be stronger and more confident in life. Boys are not forgotten either; with the PowerBoys programme they also receive support to become resilient and independent.
Concrete support for sustainable change
Friends 4 Africa not only provides education, but also supports structural improvements in the community. The foundation finances, among other things, the construction and maintenance of school buildings, means of transport for medical care and the provision of food and medicine. In addition, active efforts are being made to collect hearing aids for the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg, which helps children with hearing problems.
Our involvement
As a donor to Friends 4 Africa, we contribute to these valuable initiatives. We believe in the power of collaboration. We look forward to a great collaboration and will continue to work towards a better future for these children. Want to know more about Friends 4 Africa and how you can contribute?
