What started as an ambitious renovation project has now become a meaningful transformation. Over a period of 209 days, from July 28, 2025 to February 21, 2026, the orphanage has been fully upgraded into a safer, more comfortable, and supportive home for both the children and the sisters who care for them every day.
Throughout the renovation, nearly every part of the building was improved. Bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas, and essential facilities were carefully upgraded to create a healthier and more practical living environment.
New sleeping areas and improved sanitary facilities have made daily life more comfortable and structured. Additional functional spaces have been added to better support the needs of the children. At the same time, important safety measures and structural improvements ensure the building will remain a secure home for many years to come.
Today, the children and the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts Children’s Home can enjoy a level of comfort and security that was once out of reach.
This project is about more than construction. It has created a space where children can grow, study, and build their future with confidence. A safe and stable home environment allows them to focus on education, develop friendships, and pursue their dreams.
The impact of this renovation will continue long after the construction work has finished, supporting the children throughout their academic journey and into their adult lives.
The sisters and children express their heartfelt gratitude to The Van Soelen Foundation, whose support made this transformation possible. Thanks to this contribution, a lasting foundation of care, opportunity, and hope has been created.
While the main renovation is complete, a small team remains on-site to carry out a few final improvements requested by the sisters. With these finishing touches underway, the orphanage is fully prepared to continue its mission of providing a loving and supportive home.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this journey. Together, we have not only renovated a building, but also helped create a brighter future for the children who call this place home.
